Giving something a brand and whole identity can be a thrilling and also terrifying project. For this particular project, it was an after school program that takes kids outside and encourages them to use their imagination. They play in the dirt, with sticks, and the dirtier they get, probably the happier. I want to this whole program justice and capture the personality of it. It couldn't be clean and polished because that's not what's encouraged with the kids. I needed a symbol for going outside, getting dirty, and using your imagination. The program is also located under the towering redwoods, so I wanted to somehow bring that aspect in, no matter how small. The finished product landed on this hand drawn type with a rough branch bravely waving its flag of freedom and fun.
